The South Plains College men’s and women’s rodeo teams faired well in its most recent meet.
The SPC rodeo teams traveled to Stephensville to compete in the Tarleton State University rodeo on April 21.
The Lady Texans came into the meet ranked fourth in the nation and received strong performances from Sophomore Kortney McReynolds and freshman Rainy Robinson who lead the SPC women’s rodeo team in their respective events.
McReynolds lassoed a first overall finishs in the women’s goat tying with score of 145 and 14.2 average, after earing a score of 7 in the long run and 7.2 in the finals.



Robinson galloped to a sixth-place finish in the barrel racing event with a score of 40 points
The Texans came into the competition looking to improve on their number 13 national ranking before the end of the regular season.
Coy Surett posted a top mark for SPC earning 130 points in the steer wrestling competition placing second overall.
Current regional standing have SPC’s Shay Spitz who has earned 805 points in barrel racing, Kortney McReynold with 247.5 points in goat tying and Riley Hayes with 230 points in steer wrestling all eligible to compete in the national competition.
