Carols, epic feasts and warm laughter embody the spirit of the holiday season.
Students in the South Plains College Theatre program are presenting “A Christmas Pudding” by David Birney on Dec. 1 in the Sundown Room of the Student Center on the Levelland Campus.
This one-night event will feature dinner beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the presentation of “A Christmas Pudding.”
Dinner will include salads, desserts and a buffet consisting of smoked pork, chicken marsala and eggplant Parmesan. The presentation will begin as dinner is finished.
“It is a nice change from the traditional madrigal dinner,” said Dr. Dan Nazworth, chairman of the Fine Arts Department and assistant professor of theatre. “The other nights we are taking it on the road and performing in Lubbock and at the Wallace Theatre in downtown Levelland.”
According to Dr. Nazworth, “A Christmas Pudding” is a Christmas celebration in song, story and poetry, featuring tales by Mark Twain, G.B. Shaw, Shakespeare, Longfellow, Emily Dickinson, St. Luke and many others collected with a host of traditional carols and holiday songs.
“This piece provides a perfect evening to warm hearts, stir memories and give laughter during the holiday season,” Dr. Nazworth said.
Tickets for “A Christmas Pudding” will be available for purchase on Nov. 14 and will cost $20 per seat. Tables for the dinner and presentation will be assigned in the order the tickets are purchased, so groups should purchase their tickets together.
Tickets must be purchased in advance with a credit or debit card. To purchase tickets, call (806) 716-2408, or (806) 716-2409. Tickets are also available for purchase in the Business Office on the Levelland campus.
