Graduation set for May 13

by JONATHAN BROOKSHIRE//Social Media Coordinator

The spring semester is almost over, and graduation is right around the corner.

Graduation will be held at Texan Dome on the Levelland campus on May 13.

“There will be two ceremonies,” said Robin Coler, admissions clerk at South Plains College. “One will be at 9:30 a.m. for students whose last names start with “A” through “L,” and another at 1 p.m. for students whose last names start with “M” through “Z.”

According to Coler, there is a total of “765 estimated students” who are expected to participate in the ceremony.

Graduates do not have to be sophomores. There are a number of freshmen who are graduating with a certificate because of the program that they are enrolled in, according to Coler.

However, not any student can apply, though.

Students must have completed their degree requirements or be in the process of completing the requirements during the spring semester.

Student must also visit with their advisor, complete the graduation application, and have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.00 – which translates to a “C” average or better.

For enrolled students to apply for graduation, he or she must go online to MySPC, log into their account, and complete the application.

For students not enrolled, they must submit the application by email to Coler, or mail it to SPC Admissions and Records at 1401 S. College Ave, Levelland, TX 79336.

Caps and gowns will be provided for free on the Levelland campus at the Admissions and Records Office in the Student Services Building, and at the Admissions and Records Office in Building 8 at the Reese Center campus. Distribution starts May 2 through May 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
