Nearly 2000 high school students from a 15-county area crowded into the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Thursday for the 2022 South Plains Career Expo.
South Plains College was well represented showing off 30 out of about 150 exhibitors. Each exhibitor offered career information, some with hands-on activities. Students filled bags with flyers of information, pencils, and, of course, candy, as they moved from one exhibit to another.
Awards were presented to several exhibitors, and SPC came away with two awards. “Educational Value” award went to SPC’s Industrial Manufacturing. “Staff’s Enthusiasm, Friendliest, and Interaction award went to SPC Surgical Technology.
This is an annual event. This was the first in-person expo since 2019. Organizers say the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center is already booked for next year’s expo.
