SPC gaming club provides friendly competition

These members of the SPC Casual/Competitive Gaming Club are playing “Super Smash Brothers” in the Game Room of the Levelland campus Student Center.  That’s where you’ll find them most Fridays at 2 p.m.  They say they play for about an hour each time.

Josh Meredith, SPC’s director of student life, says this club got started in January of this year.  “The club is extremely active,” Meredith says.  “They host ‘Friendly Fridays’ every Friday at 2 p.m. in the Game Room.  They also host weekly “Pokeman Go” ‘raids’ on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.”

Meredith says the club’s Discord server shows membership has grown to 140 people, mostly students, with a few alumni and staff.

He says the club has active groups that play games such as “Apex Legends”, “Super Smash Brothers”, “Call of Duty”, “League of Legends”, “Rocket League”, “Tetris”, “Minecraft”, “Halo”, “Splitgate”, and “Overwatch”.

Any student interested in joining or learning more should join the group’s Discord server at https://discord.gg/bPY7FtAD
