Merry & Bright: SPC hosts tree lighting ceremony

South Plains College hosted its annual tree lighting ceremony Thursday on the front lawn of the college. The ceremony kicked off the community-wide event including the Main Street Lighted Parade and Levelland Marigolds Santa on the Square. Dr. Robin Satterwhite, president of SPC, welcomed the crowd gathered Thursday evening and was joined by Machayla Parkinson, Miss Caprock, in screwing in the missing lightbulb to ignite the magical Christmas lights. Music was provided by the SPC band, directed by Dr. Gary Hudson.

Following the tree lighting, the lighted parade, led by Santa Claus, traveled through the college campus, turning north on College Avenue and continuing west on Houston Street and ending at the downtown square. Santa Claus proceeded to meet with children and hear their Christmas wishes. SPC Student Life provided hot chocolate and coloring pages for children.
