What does South Plains College have to offer?

About 500 high school seniors and 150 parents from across the area recently visited the SPC Levelland Campus to find out.

On Feb. 10, students and parents began pouring into the Texan Dome for Senior Sneak Preview, an annual “get to know” SPC event.   SPC employees and faculty were on hand to staff rows of tables that lined the upper level of the dome.  That way students and parents could stop and ask questions.

SPC President Robin Satterwhite mingles with students and parents at the tables.  Students also had the opportunity to shake hands with SPC’s Mascot, Terrible Tex, or take a selfie next to a life- sized bear.  There were also, of course, a lot of pamphlets, trinkets, and candy being handed out.

After the presentation in the dome, SPC sign carrying student ambassadors led the high schoolers and parents to information sessions to various academic and technical departments scattered around campus.

Lindsey Sharp, coordinator of new student programs, says it is fun to be the one who plans and coordinates Senior Sneak Preview.   In a campus wide email after the event, Sharp called the event a “success”.

“We had many students who stated on surveys that the information sessions were informative and great!” Sharp wrote.

She says SPC looks forward to hosting this awesome event again next year.
