Practice pays off.
The Lady Texans hit the court at the Texan Dome Wednesday morning for practice. On the next day, the Lady Texans beat Howard College 59 – 44.
“I feel like the biggest improvements we were able to make leading into the Howard game were defensive,” Coach Ara Baten says. “We were able to play much better defense against Howard than in our previous game.”
Our photography students waited behind the court lines at the Dome Wednesday morning too, for a practice of their own. Their goal: capture motion. And there was a lot of it.
With the win against Howard College, the Lady Texans improve to 12-14 on the season and 6-5 in league. They pick up steam as they travel to Borger this week for a 5:45 p.m. matchup against Frank Phillips.
The last games of the season are ahead as the team inches closer to the regional tournament.
“The team has been improving all season,” Baten says, “and we are truly playing our best the last few weeks. We look forward to qualifying for postseason play and having an opportunity to compete for a region championship.”
