If it seems like the new dock at Brashear Lake appeared overnight, that’s because it did. It was completed in February.
“The new fishing dock was constructed in one day by EZ Dock of Texas,” says Dustin Reichelt, Levelland parks & cemetery director. “The concrete sidewalk was about a two-week project that connects to the college parking lot.”
Reichelt says the dock is ADA compliant and has a kayak/canoe launch. Currently, he says non-motorized boats are allowed on it too.
The park that surrounds Brashear Lake is eight acres. It’s not unusual to see students and local residents running or walking along the three-quarter-mile trail that circles the lake. It’s also not unusual to see a flock of hungry feathered visitors tagging along.
“The fishing dock was utilized from day one,” Reichelt says, “and I have no doubt it will be popular this spring and summer. We have already seen quite a few people using the dock with the nicer weather lately.”
