The Wolfforth Farmers Market has exciting plans for families during the fall season, including a pumpkin patch, farm animals, and a festival. The farmers market was started in November 2017 by Mariah Dickson and her husband, Jeff Dickson.

The farmer’s market is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the community to support the local small businesses and farmers. The Wolfforth Farmers Market is located at 8924 County Road 7100.

“We opened it because there were no year-round farmers markets,” said Dickson.

The farmer’s market has around 200 vendors. Kerry Mayfield, the owner of Tierras Planas Roasters LLC., has been vending at the farmers market since it opened in 2017.

“What drew us out here was that was the only market at the time that did not have a coffee roaster market, and at the same time, we were able to make an impact,” said Mayfield.

During the fall season, there are many activities for families in the community to do. The farmers market has a small pumpkin patch for families to enjoy.

“We do that every year, and it’s going to be in our food court, so it’s the pumpkin patch that’s fun for families, too,” said Dickson. “It’s not a big, huge one, it’s the perfect size.”

Fall is also the season of treats and fall-themed drinks. Pumpkin is a flavor that has risen in popularity during this season.

“As a coffee roaster that flavors coffees we missed one of the big ones, which was pumpkin,” said Mayfield. “We’ve passed the fall flavor of coffees, and we’re looking for winter flavor coffees. Looking like chocolate and peppermint and stuff like that, and a few other flavor coffees.”

An event that is coming up for the farmers market is a festival that they have on the Saturday before Halloween every year.

“Whatever that Saturday is, the vendors, a lot of them, give out treats, and kids can dress up, people dress up their pets, it is a lot of fun,” said Dickson.

The farmers market is reliant on people spreading the word to help keep their vendors in business. It allows these business owners to make personal connections with people who buy their products.

“The goal for my business, well for me, when I’m at the farmers market, it’s not to build it is to build my business but it’s to meet people,” said Mayfield. “People buy things from people they know.”

Most of the vendors are reliant on the farmers market to keep their businesses up and running. Spreading the word and telling people about the farmers market is what it relies on the most.

“Just telling each other about the market and coming to support our vendors, with 200 vendors, we need a lot of customers to keep those vendors going,” said Dickson.

The Wolfforth Farmers Market has many events for local families to enjoy during the fall season. Families from all over Lubbock can come and help support their local small businesses and farmers while still enjoying the usual fun fall activities.
