It’s not as easy as telling someone to say “Cheese”. These furry (or feathered) models bark, meow, or honk. But pet portraits, even if they’re hard to do well, are popular.
It takes patience and practice. Ask students in COMM 1318 Photography 1. They recently had fun showing off their pets and adjusting their cameras at the same time.
The task? Photograph your pet’s personality the best way you can. Shutter speed had to be fast or the pet’s movements might be too blurred. It was a good opportunity to use the continuous shooting mode.
No pets? No problem. There are a lot of birds and bugs out there who may or may not cooperate for the camera.
While most students had a dog or cat nearby, one student opted find a goose. Students could submit as many portraits as they had beasties to photograph.
