The Texans and Lady Texans are making final preparations for the upcoming National Junior College Athletic Association’s indoor track and field championships.
The 2025 NJCAA Men’s & Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships take place on March 7 and 8 at Texas Tech University.
“The men’s team currently is ranked number one in the country,” says Wes Miller, SPC’s head track & field coach. “So, we’re going into nationals ranked first. The women’s team is ranked seventh. But I think we have a good path to be a top 5 team in the country this year.”
Miller says the team is very “focused” and morale is high. The final qualifying meet leading up to nationals was in Arkansas last weekend.
Over the Valentine’s Day weekend, many SPC track & field athletes were in action at the Jarvis Scott Invite at Texas Tech. Several of their events are pictured below.
Looking ahead to next week, Miller says it will be a huge advantage to be able to compete in nationals in Lubbock.
“We get our home crowd,” he says, “and there’s a comfortability with — we get to sleep in our own beds and getting to go somewhere where we’ve practiced so much.”
The nationals meet takes place next week at the Sports Performance Center on the TTU campus.
“We’d love to have as many people come out and support us as possible,” Miller says.
Go Texans and Lady Texans!
