For weeks now, the men and women on the SPC rodeo teams have been practicing

at least four days a week.  Head Coach Kerry Doster says this spring is the second

half of the rodeo season.  So the teams, he says, hit the practice arena back in

August.

“We kind of set a foundation for these kids to, you know, be on top of practice and

practice and, you know, look at practice as a quality of practice,” Doster says, “not

the quality of runs, but the quality of runs you get, and I think it helps our kids be

successful in the long run.”

The SPC teams head to Odessa College this weekend.   The Odessa College Rodeo

runs Thursday, Feb. 26 through Saturday, Feb. 28.

There are close to 30 students listed on the SPC men’s and women’s rodeo teams’

rosters.  These photos showcase team members practicing team roping.
